Montpelier is a Williams County, Ohio village with a population of about 4,100 people. This community was first surveyed in May 1845, and it experienced considerable growth when tracks for the Detroit, Butler & St. Louis Railroad were created through the community in 1880. Montpelier is known for its high water quality, and it won the Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting competition in 2003, 2006, and 2007 for its municipal water supply. The weather of Montpelier is characterized by four distinct seasons, including cold and snowy winters and warm, humid summers.
Montpelier is a small community, but there are a few attractions located here that might appeal to visitors or residents. The Williams County Fair is held here in early September, and it features a carnival, musical performances, livestock shows, and a tractor pull. Camping is available at the Lazy River Campground, and outdoor enthusiasts can also enjoy recreational opportunities and Opdyke Park and the Montpelier Memorial Park.
